Why do you think that when someone hurts you very badly that you still love them?

Here's an answer 1Co 13:4 Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; 1Co 13:5 love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; 1Co 13:6 love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. 1Co 13:7 Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. 1Co 13:8 Love is eternal...

If you dont have an answer, then dont post. That would be just trying to get your post count up and that is not allowed. Its in The Rules for those of you who havent seen them.

WHY do I still love someone who hurts us badly? Jesus taught us to love our enemies -
Matthew 5 43 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
God loves ALL of us - but He does despise our sin - thus - we should love all people - and those who hurt us are our enemies - but as He shows - if the Father loves them - so should we - if we claim to be His.

Yes Jesus tells us and taught us to love our enemies - but to go one step further - when we don't love others, especially those that have hurt us, it only hurts ourselves. We harbor that hate in our hearts and it invades every part of our being. So why do we love someone who has hurt us so that we can move forward and love and forgive that person, just as surely as Jesus has does for each of us. Love conquers all!

I've heard it said - we only love God as much as we love our enemies - it is a sort of way to gauge how well we actually love our 'enemies' - and can be rather frightening when most of us realize how little we actually love our God according to that scale.
